Save the Nutcracker! is the 18th episode of Wonder Pets! from season two.
In production order, it's the 20th and final episode of season 2 of Wonder Pets!. It is the 66th episode overall in airing order, and the 75th episode overall in airing order.

- This episode was released exclusively on the DVD "of the same name" on October 7, 2008, before premiering on the main Nickelodeon channel as a primetime special on December 8, 2008.
- The faces on the characters looked more expressive than normal in this episode.
- In fact, in the clip where Ming-Ming complained about having to wait until morning to crack the nut, she's shown with a visible frown in her beak. That hadn't been used before or since then.
- This is the 3rd episode to premiere primetime on Nickelodeon. However, the season 1 segments Save the Camel!  / Save the Ants!  re-aired during daytime.
- This special eventually reran at 10:00 AM EST on the Nick Jr. block the next day after its primetime premiere, and on December 12, 2008.
- This episode features the game titled Holiday Treats for the Mouse King!  based on itself.
- This episode aired two years after Save the Reindeer on the main Nickelodeon channel.
- Going by production order, since this is the last episode of Season 2, this episode marks the final time for many things:
- This is the last Christmas special.

Goofs/Errors[]
- When Tuck points out the three trolls, he has his hat on, even though the Wonder Pets didn't have their hats on during that part.
- During the reprise of the theme song, when the Wonder Pets shout "Go, Wonder Pets!", Linny and Ming-Ming close their eyes, but when they shout "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!", they open them.
- When the Flyboat flies out of the Christmas book, it has its original mast and marble.
- When the Flyboat landed in the Christmas book, the wheels don't have their snowflakes on them.
- When the Wonder Pets are about to fly in the Mouse King's Christmas book, the W of the logo is misplaced.
- When the kid says the name of the episode, the clip on the title card is missing.
- This goof also happened in Save the What? and Three Wonder Pets and a Baby! and will later happen in Save the Dalmatian!.
