Save the Porcupine! is the first segment of the first episode of Wonder Pets: In the City!, and it's the first episode of the reboot.

The New York Wonder Pets head to a forest to help a Porcupine stuck in a tight spot.

The reboot starts in original Wonder Pets fashion with the schoolchildren, off-screen, leaving school at the end of the day. They say goodbye to the classroom pets. The classroom is decorated with student artwork and other items related to Porcupines and forests. Once the classroom is vacant, the Walkie-Phone starts ringing. One by one, the classroom pets wordlessly notice the ringing phone (Izzy is scratching herself, Zuri is hopping around, and Tate has his eyes closed). The Wonder Pets get dressed and approach the phone while singing their opening verses. They answer the phone and find out that there's an animal in trouble somewhere. Izzy explains the situation to the other two: a little Porcupine stuck between two trees. They get dressed and start to assemble the Jetcar. Zuri tries to put on the propeller, but it won't stay on. She pushes on it so hard the Jetcar falls apart. Zuri tells her that she's feeling upset because she can't get the propeller on. Izzy and Tate tell Zuri that it's okay to be mad and tell her how to calm down in her own way. The Wonder Pets rebuild the Jetcar, and Zuri manages to put on the propeller. With that, they take off and through the exit up to the sky and sing the theme song.
They arrive in the forest, where Zuri finds the porcupine stuck in two trees. They land and meet the porcupine. The porcupine says that he wants to be free to get home before dark. Izzy tries to push the porcupine out, but he advises against it because of his quills. So, the Wonder Pets try to separate the trees, but the porcupine remains stuck and upset. Tate notices that the sun is going down as Zuri clams this as "Unbelievable!" The porcupine says that she can say it again, so she does. Zuri notices that the porcupine is upset just like she was with the propeller. The Wonder Pets tell him what happens when they get mad, and the porcupine joins in, saying that he flails his quills when he gets upset. The Wonder Pets tell him to take a deep breath and do something else to calm him down. The Wonder Pets try again while the porcupine spins his head in circles and takes deep breaths... And it works!
The porcupine embraces his new freedom and makes it home to his family. The parents give grateful thanks to the Wonder Pets for saving their baby. The Wonder Pets celebrate with celery, which is what the porcupines are eating for dinner, and say goodbye. They fly home, singing a reprise version of the theme song. They wordlessly return to their cages until the next episode. Tate and Zuri lands in their cages. The Jetcar smoothly disassembles by itself. Izzy parachutes down, shakes her hair back to normal and winks, at the camera, ending the episode.

- The lesson of the episode is similar to Help the Monster, with managing big emotions.
- This is the first episode where Linny, Tuck, Ming-Ming, or the Flyboat do not appear in the series
- This also marks the first appearances of Izzy, Zuri, Tate, and their Jetcar.
- The part where Tate & Zuri asked what a porcupine is and what quills are is possibly a reference to Save the Penguin!.
Goofs[]
- When Izzy gets the wings for the Jetcar, her hair is normal, but in the next scene, it is purple.
- If one looks closely while Zuri is hopping to the walkie-phone, the wings on the shelf appear to look different, possibly the prototype version.
- When the Wonder Pets fly out of the schoolhouse, there is a rope on the bell.
- When the Wonder Pets tried to push the trees, they glitched when the camera zoomed in on the porcupine.
- When Zuri hopped back in her cage and shook off her Wonder Pets uniform, her bracelet disappeared.
- This also happened in Save the Woodpecker!.
- When the propeller fell off the Jetcar for the second time, the gears and lever were seen, even though the Wonder Pets had not put them on yet.
- Also, in the next scene, the left pop tube and bowl are missing.
- When Tate sang, "he needs our help for sure!", he was smiling instead of frowning.
- These similar goofs happened to Tuck in Save the Bengal Tiger, and Save the Cool Cat and the Hip Hippo!.
