The animal in trouble is a hummingbird whose beak is stuck in an apple.
Recap[]
This episode starts out like normal with the schoolchildren, off-screen, leaving school at the end of the day. They say goodbye to the classroom pets. The classroom is decorated with student artwork and other items that has something to do with mystery. Once the classroom is vacant, the phone with a popsicle stick-detective hat starts to ring, but it doesn’t sound right. One by one, the classroom pets wordlessly notice the ringing phone’s bad ringing. (Linny looks through a magnifying glass, Ming-Ming is running on a record table, and Tuck is playing with fake birds) The Wonder Pets get dressed and make their way towards the phone (Linny dropping through a hole hidden under her food bowl and landing on a tree, Ming-Ming opening a hidden door in the wiring of her cage and then flying out, and Tuck putting on his hat and water shoes) While singing their opening verses.
The Wonder Pets answer the phone only to find that the phone is broken and they don't know what animal is in trouble. Ming-Ming fixes the phone with her bum and the Wonder Pets see that the animal in trouble is in their backyard before it fritzes out again. Linny tells his friends that they’re gonna need a bigger team today, so he asks the viewers to help them figure out what animal is in trouble. They all jump into a box filled with fabric scraps and jump back out, holding their capes then Linny gives one to the viewers to make them a Wonder Pet too. Once dressed Tuck suggests bringing the phone in case it starts working again, they assemble a flying toy sailboat called "The Can-Boat" from classroom objects: a Frisbee for a body, magic marker caps as rocket exhausts, a marble, wheels, the mast, and the can. Ming-Ming volunteers to bring the phone which she struggles to do Linny and Tuck tells her to pull the can. The solution is invariably similar to the action they will need to take to save the animal in trouble. They fly through the cubby that is covered by a red cardboard chicken, sing their theme song and tell the viewers to join in.
They travel to their backyard and land to find the animal in trouble. The tin-can phone starts ringing again and the Wonder Pets see an apple tree. They ask the new Wonder Pet (aka the viewers) to help them find the apple tree before the phone fritzes out again. They know that the animal in trouble is in the apple tree. The tin-can phone starts ringing again and the Wonder Pets see feathers, wings, and a beak and (with the viewer's help) find out that the animal in trouble is a bird. Then they hear a humming coming out of the phone and find out that the bird in trouble hums and fly up to the tree and look for it. They find a baby hummingbird whose beak is stuck in an apple. All four Wonder Pets pull the baby hummingbird out of the apple.
Then the baby hummingbird's daddy gives grateful thanks to the Wonder Pets (including the new one) for helping his baby. The Wonder Pets celebrate with apple slices on celery as a snack. Then they say goodbye and fly back to the classroom. They wordlessly return to their cages. The Flyboat smoothly disassembles by itself. Linny is always the last one to get back in her cage, and her cape and cap come off. Linny thanks the viewer for being on their team for today, saying that the viewer's a Wonderful Wonder Pet, before taking a bite out of the celery in her cage and winks.

Trivia[]
- This is the 1st & only interactive episode of "Wonder Pets!".
- In other words, the fourth wall was broken constantly throughout the episode.
- This interactive episode has a reference to other shows like Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Blue's Clues, Blue's Clues & You, Team Umizoomi, Super Why, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, ect.
- This is the first (and only) appearance of the Can-Boat.
- The mystery animal is a hummingbird whose beak is stuck in an apple tree.
- The clues are an apple tree, beak and wings and humming.
- This is the 1st appearance of the orange cape to become the 4th member of the Wonder Pets. It will appear again in Save the Visitor! .
- Grey Griffin guest stars as the voice of the Baby Hummingbird.
- The Wonder Pets! logo in the beginning had a similar design (where the letters were farther apart of the W and a little bit separated in a different font, but also the Nick Jr. clouds are darker) from Save the Sea Lions, Save the Turtle, Save the Platypus! , and Save the Ladybug! .
- This episode reveals that if the phone has a dent in it, the pictures will come out distorted and the phone will randomly shut down and turn back on. Although, the sound will come out just fine.
- The animation of the first stanza of the Wonder Pets' reprise of the theme song is reused from season 1, but it looks different. For example, Linny and Ming-Ming are now looking at the viewer while Tuck isn't. The reason why is probably due to animation limits.
Goofs[]
- When Linny turns the Can-Boat on, the gears are moving in slow motion. Also, the marble doesn't spin.
- When the Wonder Pets shout: "Go Wonder Pets, yay!", Ming-Ming's wing doesn't connect to Tuck and Linny's hands.
- When Ming-Ming says, "We are coming to save you...whatever you are!", you can see the phone in its place even though the Wonder Pets took the phone along in case it started to work again. Also, the detective hat in the phone is too big.
- Right after that, the marble on top of the Can-Boat is gone.
- When the kid says the name of the episode, the clip on the title card is missing.
- This goof also happened in Save the Nutcracker!, Three Wonder Pets and a Baby!, and Save the Dalmatian!.
- The Can-Boat doesn’t require a sail. However, in Save the Cow, Linny specifically mentions they can’t fly without the sail, because it catches wind to help them move. Either Linny is a more skilled pilot, or this fact was just forgotten.
- When the Wonder Pets flew into the chimney, if you look closely behind the classroom, you can see the schoolhouse from the Linny the Guinea Pig shorts.
