Trivia[]

  • The show streams on Apple TV+. However, it is unknown if it will air on Nick Jr.
  • This is the first Nickelodeon production to premiere on Apple TV+.
  • This show (along with the first episode) premiered on Friday the 13th.
  • This also marks the first time Little Airplane Productions brought back an O.G. show since March 3rd, 2006.
    • However, Little Airplane Productions was shut down by Studio 100 and reopened as Terribly Terrific Productions. Snowflake Films NYC replaced the studio in production, making it a spiritual successor to Little Airplane Productions before Studio 100 bought the company.
    • This is also the first show to be made by Snowflake Films NYC and Kavaleer. Somehow, long before the series' debut, Terribly Terrific and Happy Nest were rumored to be the production companies for this show, but this is for season two when the reboot came out.
    • This is the first show not to involve Josh Selig, the creator and also the owner of Little Airplane Productions.
  • It is unknown if there will be a new replacement for Ollie.
  • It is unknown if the O.G. Wonder Pets will appear in a future episode.
    • However, in Save the Mountain Lion!, they made a cameo appearance as drawings inside the cave.
    • Also, Sofie Zamchick, who played Linny in the original show, will voice a character in the new reboot, as shown in her voice contract from SAG-AFTRA.
  • In a news article, Jennifer Oxley stated, “The concept for ‘Wonder Pets: In the City’ sprung from the love and nostalgia for the original series. We wanted to create something that honored the spirit of the original but with a new trio of classroom pets, a jazzy new city location, and deeper storytelling with diverse and inclusive themes –with takeaway messages of teamwork, compassion, empathy, kindness, and the importance of helping others.”
    • In another news article, she wrote: "When dreaming up what our new spin-off could be, I thought, what if our original Wonder Pets weren’t alone? What if there was a vast network of singing, animal-saving teamwork-loving classroom pets all around the world? And for this spin-off, what if we get to meet a whole new team of Wonder Pets who live in a brand-new city location?" Oxley tells Parents.
      • This could imply that ITC takes place in the same universe as the original.
  • Differences from the original:
    • Celery is not the only food they eat in this new spin-off; Izzy, Tate, and Zuri are also shown to be eating other fruits/vegetables like cucumbers, broccoli, beans, and sunflower seeds.
    • The episode's title appears on a blackboard instead of an easel, similar to the OG episode Save the Beetles!
    • At the end of each episode, Izzy just winks at the camera without biting into her celery, similar to Linny in the two pilots.
    • The main songs are entirely replaced and reimagined.
    • The teacher of the classroom is a man instead of a woman, similar to the flashback of the OG episode, How It All Began.
    • The opening title sequence doesn't have any credits other than the show's logo.
    • Zuri's line is "Unbelievable!", which is an alternative version of Ming-Ming's line, "This is SE-WIOUS!"
    • The Wonder Pets now get their capes from a plant next to the phone.
      • They also don't have costume gags correlated with each episode like the original series.
  • This is the first Wonder Pets-related production to be in widescreen.
  • Sometimes, when pets refer to animals they need to rescue, they weirdly mistake their gender as the opposite at times.
  • Some of the students in the classroom share voice actors with the animals the Wonder Pets meet in that episode.
  • Some sounds from the original are recycled, like the door closing and the Wonder Pets eating celery.
    • Speaking of recycled media, the iconic W symbol makes a return on Izzy, Zuri, and Tate's capes, as well as the Jet-Boat's sail.
    • In Save the Roly Poly!, a Bee that looks similar to the Little Bee appears.
  • In episodes where the Jetcar disassembles, one of the pop tubes and bubble engines are missing.
  • The series was nominated for an Annie Award for Best Animated Television Production for Preschool, particularly for the episode "Save Tate?"
  • It is currently unknown if there will be an origin story episode about how the N.G. Wonder Pets started (unlike How it all Began).
  • Based on some interviews about Wonder Pets: In The City, it's highly possible we will get at least two new episodes that we could see in a future season because Jennifer Oxley confirmed it. One of which was a Chinese New Year episode based in China[2], and another being about a "Theater Mouse in Time Square,"[3] the latter of which are her personal favorite.
    • On a Stewart Talent profile for Linny's voice actress, Sofie Zamchick, she was also listed under the TV/Film category as the voice for a Coney Island Seagull, hinting further at the possibility of a Season 2[4].
